Ren glared, but didn't say anything for a while. She opened her mouth, as if finally about to speak, when an angry voice cut in.
"Ren!" Akito.
She strode toward the three women, completely dignified, a dagger look in her eyes.
Alice inwardly smirks, thinking, if looks could kill, to herself as Ren swiveled.
"Why are you speaking to them?!" The daughter shouted at her mother.
Ren just chuckled. "They are not your juunishi, you do not own them, I can speak to them freely."

Esme heard Akito coming, one of the advantages of being a vampire was good hearing. Really good reaing.
"Akito, it's okay, Alice and I were on our way." She told the girl gently.

"Why were you bothering talking to this lowlife?" Akito snapped at the woman.
"Ahh, these women tend to be your friends, and yet you treat them no better than you do your poor Juunishi. Akito, darling," Ren said cuttingly. "This is why you cannot be loved."

Esme glared darkly at Ren, then turned back at Akito.
"I just wanted to speak to your mother, Akito. I see that was a mistake." She shot a another glare at Ren. That woman was horrid.

Ren turned back to Esme. "You poor, poor woman. You really are a fool." An expression of pity was on her face, and she reached out to pet Esme in a sympathetic gesture.
Protectiveness and absolute fury flared up in Akito, and suddenly she was between Ren and Esme.
"Don't touch her! Don't touch either of them! You are unworthy trash! Stay away!" Akito snarled.
Alice, who was off to the side, watched as Akito's pupils shrank in her fury. Then it seemed as if they'd disappeared completely as Akito got more and more angry.

Esme would have pulled from Ren anyways, but now she stepepd away from them. After a moment, however, she put a hand on her shoulder to make her calm down.
"Akito..." She said softly.

Akito tried to shake Esme off, hands balling up into fists at her sides, and then relaxing again, and then her fingers curled, as if she were preparing to strangle the woman with the oily, raven hair before her.
Seeing this, and having a sudden vision of what Akito was about to do, she helped her adopted mother, wrapping her arm around Akito's waist in a seemingly friendly manner, though she also pinned Akito's arms to her sides in the process. Akito tried to pull out of Alice's strong grip, calling a short string of... colorful words at Ren, all the while, concluding with, "I'll kill you, you insolent b****!"
"Is that any way to speak to your mother, child," Ren replied, tone still sharp, but at the same time deceivingly sweet.

"Shut up, Ren." Esme hissed, the woman actually snarled at Ren. "Leave, please." She told the woman, still trying to be poliet.

Ren smirked at Esme, then sneered at her daughter, emitting another yell of rage from Akito, and then grinned. It was a facial expression you could compare to one of insanity.
"Gladly." She whipped around, long hair trailing across Esme, Alice and Akito. Akito shuddered after the hair touched her, then again tried to shake free of Alice, who let go.
"The woman has such oily hair," Akito said in total disgust. To the untrained eye, Akito would look merely murderously furious, but someone like Alice, or Esme, would see the hurt, and tears underlying that angry mask.

"Nn," was Akito's only reply.
Alice smiled at her adopted mother. "Y'know, I've never seen you so mad, Esme." She couldn't help but crack a little smile.
Akito just scowled, turning away from othem. Alice was so lucky to have someone like Esme to look after her. There was little Akito wouldn't give to have Esme for her own mother. She was too proud to admit it herself, though. The reason she'd turned away was so the two wouldn't see the envious look in her eyes.

Esme smiled. "I see Akito like my daughter. I have to protect like I would protect you." She said to Alice.

Akito bit her lip, and to her horror, some tears were welling in her eyes. Not unhappy ones, though. Even Akito's hard shell could be broken through sometimes, and she could be touched. She blinked furiously until the tears were gone.
"Thank you." Akito sounded reluctant. Those were two words she didn't say often. Not together, anyway. She said it quietly, too. Too quiet for any human to hear her. Alice laughed and wrapped an arm around her friend's shoulders.
"Aki, you look embarrassed!" She teased.
Akito looked angry again, fromt he being teased, but didn't say anything, just glowered at Alice.

Esme chuckled softly. "Don't tease her, Alice." She said, then she said softly to Akito. "Your welcome."

"What all did that woman say?" Akito asked, unwilling to say her own mother's name.
Alice didn't want to tell Akito what Ren had said, so she glanced at Esme.

Akito nodded. "Of course." She got the feeling that it was about her, and not very kind, or Alice wouldn't have hesitated. "I'd banish her from the grounds, but we have a bet, and she'd merely think me a coward if I sent her away. My some higher power d**n that b**** to hell," she said bitterly, fists clenched. She was shaking with fury again.
"Aki, calm down," Alice said, deliberately making her voice light. "You look like you're a werewolf about to transform," she added.

Esme didn't say anything, she didn't know what to say. So instead she changed the subject.
"Where's Devon?" She asked the girl.
