Breakfast was quick. Shade got Lee cleaned up and hoped the boy wouldn't get it into anything else before they got there. Once there, Shade stepped out of the car and opened Lee's door, unbluckling him so he could go in.

Lee bounced out of the car like a ball of energy and was at the door in a matter of seconds.
"Kids have way too much energy," Tadao said with a chuckle, walking at a more leisurely pace to Kyo's door. He rang the doorbell, and waited for someone to answer.
Tohru came to the door cheerily as always. "Ah! Shade-san, Tadao-san, Lee-chan, come in!" She said.
Lee darted in to find his orange-haired playmate. Tadao bowed then went in after Tohru had gotten out of the way.
Kyo walked in, looking just a little sweaty around his facial area. His cheeks were lightly flushed. Probably from the heat. He'd been building a dojo and it still wasn't quite finished, though it was safe to use by now. He's without a doubt been working on it.
"Yo," he said when he saw the couply. "Lee nearly ran into my legs. Who gave him sugar this time?" He smirked, already looking at Tadao.
Tadao grimaced. "Me," he said, shrugging. "And I only gave him a little! I just... left it out and he poured the rest in his cereal," he said defensively.
Kyo chuckled and looked at Shade. "Uh..." It was still awkward for him to show concern. His voice got gruff as he asked, "So, how are you feeling, anyway? What's this whole thing about. What's so bad about your cough or whatever you have."
Tadao held back a sigh and scratched the back of his neck. Why this subject?

Shade grimaced slightly.
"I have some sort of cancer." She told Kyo bluntly. "Hatori would know more about it then I, but he told the the survival rate... isn't that high." Shade told Kyo, her voice droppiong and she looked down, kicking at the dirt with her shoe.
"Five percent."

Kyo's eyes bugged out for a moment, and Tohru's eyes were already starting to get a little teary at the thought that Shade might die.
Kyo nearly blew up at her--he wasn't the best at reacting to stuff like this. He sighed and looked down. Tadao took Shade's hand and pulled her into the house.
Kyo finally calmed down enough to speak without yelling. "Cancer... D**n." He was shaking his head as if trying to clear it. "When'd ya find out?"
Unlike Hatori and Tadao, he didn't try to reassure Shade that she'd live. He was more of a pessimist and knew that it was likely that Shade would die.

"Yesterday." Shade told him, following Tadao into the house. She was actually kinda glad Kyo didn't tell her she would live. She hated people fretting over her and hoping for the impossible. Maybe she was a pessimist, too.

Kyo sighed. "Uhm... at least you're all right right now," he said, attempting at a reassurance that wouldn't be as painful as, 'It'll be all right'.
Tohru wanted to say that everything would be okay, but she knew that Shade probably wouldn't want to hear that if Kyo didn't already say it.

"Yeah. I figure I don't have much time left so I might as we-" Shade covered her mouth as she choked, and looked disgusted and embarrased when there was blood on her hand and mouth. She made a face, her cheeks, ears, and neck heating up.
"G*d. I'm so sorry..." She murmured. "I guess I should go wash it off." She muttered, shuffling away to the bathroom to wash off her face and hands.
The girl returned, looked down.
"Sorry." She said again.

Tohru shook her head, looking very woried. "Ah! Do you have any tissues to carry around with you? I could give you some," she offered.
Kyo shrugged. "Ain't your fault," he said simply. He wiped his arm against his forehead, still feeling a little hot from construction work outside.

"Yeah, it's fine. I just forgot some today." Shade admitted. She grinned thankfully up at Kyo. Although it was less like her crooked grin and seemed more... mature in a way. Like Shade had grown up from a teenager to a woman.

Tohru nodded. "Okay."
"The dojo's almost finished," Kyo told Tadao and Shade.
"Cool. Only took you three years," Tadao said a little sarcastically, flashing Kyo a teasing smirk.
"Shut up," Kyo replied, smirking back.

There was a heavy knock on the door. Shade turned to stare at it pointedly. Who would could be visiting on the hottest day of the year? Shouldn't they be at home... ? Shade looked back up at Kyo.
"Were you expecting anyone else.... ?"

"Nope," Kyo replied, frowning. Tohru opened the door. She didn't recognize this person. "Ah... um... hello," She said.
Kyo, of course, recognized who was there. Shade would too.

"Eh... Tohru, Tadao, you might want to leave. Pack buisness, probably. It'll be boring." She told them, rubbing the back of her her neck with one hand.

Tadao nodded. Tohru smiled a little nervously and said, "Okay." She wasn't mad at the pack, but she didn't quite trust them--and that was a first. But how else was she supposed to feel, when they'd forced Kyo and Shade to... =shudder= sleep together? She turned, keeping composed, smiling over her shoulder at Kyo before leaving the room. Tadao followed, suggesting they go in the back and check on Ryuzaki and Lee.
"What?" Kyo almost snapped at the pack member. He couldn't help it. After that event three years ago, he still couldn't forgive these guys.
