Akito sat down as well. She felt out of place here. She then listened as the priest said an opening prayer, as a child held the book in front of him. And then there was another song... Akito found the page easier this time. Then someone started reading from a book. Akito listened carefully.

No matter how hard she listened, Akito couldn't grasp the concept of this reading. "I don't understand..." She said to Devon.

"The whole thing." Akito replied quietly, still trying to understand. She just had never heard of the people in this reading. Someone... she was guessing some saint, but she wasn't sure. And then, she didn't get what was going on.

Akito nodded. She tried to focus harder. Soon the reading was over, then there was a psalm... and then there was another reading she couldn't quite understand. Then the gospel reading. Akito understood that one perfectly. A woman was asking Jesus to help her, because her daughter was being posessed by a deamon. She was begging him. And he told her that the woman's daughter would be healed within the hour...
Akito liked that reading. So... Jesus could do amazing things through God's power... She smiled when the Gospel had ended.

Devon sat and listened to the readings.
When it came time for commuion, Devon got up like all the other people.

Akito stood up. She looked around. Most of the people had their hands cupped. She did the same.

Akito looked confused but kept her arms like that. When she approached the priest he smiled at her, his eyes twinkling, and he blessed her. The way the priest was smiling... she'd only seen that on one other man's face. On her father's face. Seeing that smile made her smile too. She followed Devon after that.
Soon the mass was over and Akito had the slightest bounce in her step as she walked out with Devon.

Akito nodded. "Yes." She said. A little dove sitting on the branch of a tree caught her eye. She glanced at Devon and then turned to the dove. She held her finger out and whistled quietly. The bird hopped onto her finger and she stroked it's back gently.

"I do it all the time." Akito smiled. "Out in the garden, there are always doves. I've been able to hold them since I was little."
Her grin widened slightly as the bird chirped.

The bird hopped on his finger. Akito smiled, and stroked the birds back again.

Devon lifted his finger to stroke the bird, as soon as he touched the birds soft back, it flew off.
"My fingers must be too cold." He said.
((I did that with a hummingbird the otherday ^^ It was eating at a hummingbird feeder outside and a stuck my hand out the window and pet it's back ^^))
