Adalina didn't need more intimidation. She knew an angry alpha when she saw one. Although she really hadn't expected to run into Akito. Well, this kinda stunk. Of course she was glad she had scented, then heard Akito coming before she had shown up.
"I was invited by a friend." Of course Adalina had the etiquette of a coyote, or wolf so she avoided meeting Akito's eyes. In human etiquette that might leave Akito thinking she had lied or something. Which just wasn't something that Adalina wanted the god like figure thinking.

Akito didn't believe her, because she didn't look her in the eyes.
"I don't believe you," was Akito's statement. "Why don't you look me in the eyes? You gave yourself away."

"Huh?" Adalina blinked and looked back at Akito then back at the ground. "I wouldn't lie to a leader. That's not smart." She said firmly, not demanding like just that she was sure of her statement. "I don't look people in the eyes on there own territory. That's a threat." She added looking back up this time meeting Akito in the eyes.
"But if it helps. I was invited onto the premises." She said now still looking into Akito's eyes.

Akito looked irritated. "What are you, some sort of an--" She was cut off as somebody else's voice, similar to Akito's, broke in, signaling another presence. And ther she was, a woman with long plum-black hair identical to Akito's strange color in the hallway with them.
"Why must you be so cruel, Akito? I didn't raise you like this." Despite the sweet tone, there was a malicious gleam in her algae green eyes.
Akito's angry expression turned murderous, and she whirled on the woman. "You! What are you doing out of your room?!"
"It's not healthy for one to be cooped up for very long, my child. Show respect to your mother." The tone was still too-sweet.
Akito seemed to be so furious that she had gone silent altogether.

That voice... That voice reminded Adalina of her own mother when she had guests. Around other people her mother could pretend to be as sweet as nector, the choking kind that is. Either way Adalina didn't like it. On top of that Akito was tensed, as though posed to attack. Naturally Adalina had the instincts not to fight with higher ups. But as a coyote she snuck around doing little things to annoy when she was angry. Another thing was that she didn't normally stand up against males, there was something about that gender among dogs that put them higher then females. Still today with humans, things aren't so smooth for the feminine gender. But when it came to females that were not leaders, she had no problem staring them in the eyes, challenging.
"He wasn't being cruel." Adalina stated in a matter-of-fact tone. Just to add the human touch she looked into Ren's eyes. Of course Ren wouldn't know it was also a bit of a challenge in the world Adalina made residence in.

"Oh, I beg to differ. I heard the conversation. My son threatened you. I do apologize for that. I don't know why he's become like this." Ren put on an apologetic expression. To Akito, Ren's whole act was transparent, and by the way Adalina was acting, she saw through it to. Good, at least this girl wasn't a total idiot.
"Ha!" Akito spat. "So you were eavesdropping! And you tell me to show respect!"
"Your father would be so ashamed," Ren said, faking sadness. But the left side of her mouth twitched upward slightly, in the beginnings of a smirk as she watched Akito get shocked into silence. She then proceeded by leaning in to whisper into Akito's ear, not thinking Adalina would hear.
"You are the reason he died, Akito. You know that. He wasted his life caring for you, making sure you were happy. But now, he cared about you in vain. You've become a monster. If Akira-san could see you now, he would hate you."
Akito took a step back, the most pained expression on her face. Ren allowed herself to smirk briefly, not expecting Adalina to notice. Akito had her arms slightly wrapped around herself.
"Go back to your room. Leave." Her voice cracked, getting an octave higher on the last word. She felt numb, but at the same time in the most horrible pain. She completely forgot that Adalina was there.
"You may be head of house, but I am your mother. I have a higher position in this family than you ever will. I don't have to do what you say."
Akito turned her back to her mother, holding herself. She didn't want Ren to see her pain.

Adalina practically growled. D*** people like this. People who treat their children like dirt under their feet. Ren had called Akito a monster. Adalina's own mother had called her the same. Taking a step forward Adalina figured everyone dealt with their pain, their hurts differently. Akito hid behind a shield of anger, malice. Adalina treated people roughly the same. She wasn't too hurt by her mother, although she could see through those shields. It was something she had learned to do to protect herself from the facades people set up.
"Why do you accuse him of being cruel while you step up and talk him down as though he is nothing? Monsters are a whole lot worse then what you see Akito as." Adalina said looking up at Ren, she hadn't really had to look to far since she wasn't too much shorter. But she was still shorter. About Akito's height. The walker stared Ren in the eyes, it was still an oblivious challenge to a human, but to Adalina it meant the whole conversation. She would not back down.
((That was good. x3 Poor Aki. I wanna give her a hug. ): ))

Akito had turned back around slightly. Why was the girl defending her? What did this girl have to gain by helping her? Her, of all people. She stared at Adalina in confusion. There were few outsiders who would dare speak to Ren in such a way, because Ren had a temper nearly as bad as her daughter's.
Ren laughed without humor. "You don't know Akito, though. You have no idea what he's done. He deserves the title of 'monster'. I'm only stating facts. It is the truth, and I should not lie to my son."
Akito turned to fully face Ren, eyes fiery once more. "You are going to leave! Now! You will NOT speak about me in such a way! You are lucky I don't have you banished from this house altogether!"
Maids, hearing Akito's yells, had headed toward the halls. When they arrived, she spoke again.
"Take her to her room! NOW!"
The way her hair fell in her eyes successfully hid the fact that there were tears in her eyes.
Ren laughed, and the sound could be compared to that emitted from an insane person.
"I wonder, Akito. How are you ever going to win our little bet like that?" As she said this, she was led away by the maids without question.
Akito turned her back to Adalina.
"Why did you help me? I'm sure you didn't gain anything from that." She deliberately made her voice cold and hard, hiding the pain.
Yet, the way she spoke still explained that she had been through much, and never before had someone spoken so strongly to defend her.

"My mother calls me a monster. My father thinks the same. But he doesn't speak to me, not that my mother actually speaks to me. More so yells. And throws things." Adalina said her voice flat, monotone. Why not stand up against someone that needed stood up too? The shield was still in place, but it had a crack.
"Your crying." Adalina stated looking down at the floor purposefully. "Did you expect me to agree with her? Or to act like her?" She asked voice calm and even. It was deliberate, hiding the leftover aggravation. "She's the reason you aren't who you really are..." Adalina murmured just loud enough for Akito to here. It could mean so many different things. It was partially put towards how Akito acted and dressed like a male while she was most certainly not.

"I've always thought of most women as cruel and selfish," was Akito's response to Adalina asking what she expected. "I never would have expected a girl, especially an outsider, to stand up for me." Then she went a little rigid when she said Ren was the reason that she wasn't who she really was. She understood the main meaning immediately. She glared slightly at Adalina.
"W... How did you find out?" She demanded, shocked.

"Heh, I guess that's what coyotes are. Outsiders." Adalina commented. "I could tell your mother was certainly not as sweet and innocent as she puts out because that's how my mother tends to act around other people." She said making her way into explaining how she figured out. One reason was slightly how Akito acted. But it was mostly because Adalina didn't have a shield. She would hide her emotions, oh yes, but it was mainly how she had made her way into seeing through other peoples shields. Rarely is anyone what they appear to be. There is always a facade. Both her parents had shown her that. So, she learned how to tell when people were acting outside of how they really were. Or what they really were.
"No one is what they appear to be." She started then faltered. How could she explain all that went through her mind? "I could tell from movements, actions, scent, and just overall being ready to see through the facade, so to speak." Sighing she figured that, that sounded good enough. Not to redundant or anything.

Akito sighed quietly. "Did you hear what she said to me?" She questioned. Still, the words cut deeper and deeper, even now after the woman had left. Her mind flickered to her father. Would he really be ashamed? No... No, this is what he had wanted. He wanted 'God,' and so she was being 'God'.
((Short, but I don't think Akito would have much to say in this situation.))

((Probably not. XD))
"Yes. I have good hearing." Adalina replied. When Adalina had mentioned monsters she was thinking of vampires, werewolves, and fae... Oh my. Even walkers such as herself came from something supposedly evil. "You may not have a mother but at least you have a family." It could have been mistaken for envy. But Adalina avoided being envious. It was a useless emotion.

Akito laughed without humor, facing Adalina now. "Yes. Family. A family that, may I mention, I'm dying for. And they. Don't. Care. They aren't thankful in the least for what I do for them." She said it without thinking. Her tone was bitter, angry. "And despite that, I continue to be told that dying for them is a privilege."
She was almost crying again. They were bitter, angry tears, but also tears of despare. Again her hair fell in front of her eyes to hide her eyes, not wanting Adalina to see.

Dying for? The curse. That was it wasn't it? And now people say that it's a privilege to die? Who the h*** has she been talking to? What was there in families today? Pain, abuse. That was a big part of her 'family'. Not that it should even be considered a family. Right now the walker just watched Akito. "So that's the curse." She said after thinking. "When I first came here I smelled vampire. There are vampires here?" Adalina asked. Frankly if that was the case, and Akito didn't want to die, then why not become a vampire?

"I... have a friend who is a vampire. He is adamant that he wants me to live like a regular person. He doesn't want me to become a 'monster'. That's his view on vampires. That's his view on himself." Akito didn't even bother to ask how Adalina knew about vampires. She let out a shuddering sigh and leaned against the wall, as if suddenly feeling very weak, and exhausted.

"What, does he drink human blood or something?" Adalina asked. In her view if the vampires were 'vegetarian' in the way that they abstained from drinking human blood then that did not qualify them as monsters. The girl then realized she had probably asked the wrong question, since you weren't really supposed to tell people about vampires. But it had been sort of a thought that Akito knew already. Since Shigure did. "There are a lot of people around here that know about vampires aren't there?" She said quietly.

"I don't even know who knows anything anymore. Nobody tells me anything, so I have no idea. I know some people know about vampires. Not all of us though." Akito sighed and rubbed her temples.
She still wasn't thinking about how open she was being to this girl. It just felt good to get all this stress off of her chest. It was relaxing.

"So long as the Volturri doesn't find out." Adalina replied. It was ironic to think Akito had been snapping at her not to long ago. Now they were talking, just talking. "you don't have to answer of course, but what happened to your father? I know you didn't kill him." She was curious.

The question she asked brought back memories. Both good and bad. When he told her how much he loved her. When he died...
"Father... he died of serious illness. He was sickly, like I am. I am expected to die in the same way he did." Her eyes were distant, as if looking back on things in the past.
"I watched him die. I was there when he breathed his final breath... Mother was not. She is jealous of that."
