"Aki!" Alice called. She could tell that Akito was starting to get tense, so she'd looked for a distraction.
Akito looked up as the girl came over to her, holding a few shells in her hand. "Look at this. I thought you'd like them." She put the shells in Akito's hand, and Akito looked at them. They were pretty. Alice took one of the bigger ones, and steadied Akito as she nearly fell. The waves seemed to really want her to fall. "Aki, if you put this one to your ear, you can hear waves. It's cool."
Akito hesitantly put the shell to her ear. After a little while, she lowered the shell from her ear. "You'r right..." she mumbled.
"So what do you say about going swimming now? You can warm up in the hot tub, too," Alice said, nodding at the hotel.
Akito frowned at the girl, but sighed. "Fine."

Devon nodded and dropped the subject.
"The pool sounds good." He murmured to the two girls.

Akito--rather reluctantly--allowed Alice to pull her back to shore, grabbing her shoes along the way, and then up to the boardwalk, and finally into the hotel, where Alice dragged Akito into the room.
"Okay, Aki! Which one?" She held up a neon orange two-piece with green straps and also a green palm tree.
Well, it wasn't a bikini, but it was close, so Akito adamantly replied, "No." Alice held up another swimsuit. This one was a 'tankini,' as Alice had called it. It was darkish red.
"This is the least showy one, Aki," Alice said.
"Fine, I'll wear it," Akito muttered, snatching the swimsuit from Alice and glaring at it as she stalked into the bathroom, slamming the door shut behind her. She came out at least ten minutes later (obviously not wanting to be seen).
"I. Hate. You," Akito hissed, arms folded and legs crossed, as if trying to hide as much skin as possible. Her face was almost as red as the suit.
"You're so pretty!" Alice chirped. While Akito was in the bathroom, Alice had gone down the stairs and very politely asked if they could reserve the pool for just her, Akito and Devon for a while, paying the man at the counter. He had said yes. Now, obviously, she was back. "Oh, Devon, what do you think? By the way, you have swim trunks in your bag. Change!" She said eagerly. Before she even let Devon into the bathroom, though, Alice was in, and then came out mere seconds later, wearing an emerald green bikini with sparkling diamond-like rhinestones.

Devon grumbled somthing sounding like 'I didn't know that I had to swim too'. But went into the bathroom and changed quickly, coming out in a pair of trunks that matched Akito's tankini, only a darker red with a black design. He glanced over at Akito, thinking that she looked nice, then ackwardly rubbed the back of his neck, feeling a tad bit exposed infront of Alice...

Akito couldn't help staring at Devon for a little bit. Really, he looked... She cut off her thoughts, face heating up. What was she thinking?
Alice giggled as she watched Akito. She could so easily guess what the young woman was thinking. She wondered if Devon could tell. She pushed them through the door. "Oh, and by the way, of course you have to swim, Devon. Wouldn't it be kind of mean to make Akito swim without you?"
Soon they were at the pool. "Okay, Aki. Hot tub first, or pool?"
"Pool," Akito replied. Might as well get this over with.
Alice looked terribly excited. She took Akito's hand and led her down the steps of the pool, into the water.
"It's not as cold as the ocean," she mumbled.
"Nope. But it's still cold!" Alice chimed.
Akito tore away from Alice now, going to the edge of the pool. She wanted to stay away from Alice. The girl was going to make her swim.
"How deep does the pool go?" She questioned, startin to make her way to the other end of the pool, holding onto the wall.
"Twelve feet, actually," Alice replied.
"Why that deep?" She asked in shock.

Devon walked to the deepest end, where he dived into the pool. When he surfaced, his light blonde hair clung to his face and he swam over to the girls.
"It's not that bad, but then again I don't have to breathe..."

"And you know how to swim," Akito stated, gripping the edge of the pool as she inched her way to the deep end.
"Aki, twelve feet is pretty deep. It's probably not a good idea to go all the way over there..."
"I'll be fine," Akito snapped back, going the rest of the way. Of course she'd say that she'd be fine. She didn't think she'd mess up. Of course, then she slipped near the eleven-foot part, and felt panicked.
Alice was suddenly over there, pulling Akito back up.
"I told you it wasn't a good idea," she said, pulling the now coughing Akito back to the four-foot-end. "And by the way, it's unwise to inhale water."
"No, really?" Akito replied sarcastically, coughing some more.

Devon rushed to Akito, the water making him move slower then he wanted. His face was worried.
"Maybe we should wait for a bit befor eyou go over there." He said to her, cupping her face and kissing her forehead gently.

"That was humiliating," Akito said, hoarsly. She coughed a couple more times, then broke away from Alice, wrapping her arms around Devon's neck.
"Well, Devon, why don't you show Aki how to swim? I'll go sit in the hot tub, you won't even know I'm here." Alice smiled, climbing out of the pool and making her way across the slippery tile to the hot tub, sinking into it.

Devon smiled at Akito.
"I'm sorry. Do you want me to teach you how to swim, like Alice told me to?" He asked her, tilting his head.

"No, not really," Akito replied. "But, maybe we could try going over to the deep end. I mean, I won't sink if I'm holding onto you," she said quietly. She gave him a quick kiss on the cheek.

Akito continued to hold onto Devon, tightly.
"You know, if I didn't have to wear this d**n swimsuit, I'd probably be enjoying this." She set her chin on his shoulder, leaning her head against his neck.

"How the he** can you say something like that with a straight face?!" Akito asked, shocked, face reddening.
Alice watched the two, smiling to herself. Really, they were a match made in heaven, or whatever you'd like to call what those two were.

"Because it's true." Devon told her, his face not changing at all. "You look very good in that swim suit, and I'd be very jealous if we were down here with other people and other men were looking at you." He told her.

"I'm not, it's the truth." Devon told her, his lip twitching up into a small, lopsided smile. He brushed some still dry hair out of her eyes and smiled more brightly at her.

"You really are an idiot sometimes, Devon," Akito stated. If it weren't for the small smile on her face, and the light tone of her voice, one would have thought she meant it. Well, she kind of did, but she was saying good-naturedly.
