Off the top of her head, Sarah wrote down her notes, no even looking at the book. It really was easy to get, once you got used to it. She was one of the first ones done.

Austin was one of the last few done, as usual. He put down his pencil and waited for the teacher to assign the next assignment.
Soon, the teacher wrote down a website on the board," tonight, when you go home, you all need to research part of the feudal era from this site, and, in your know words, write a five paragraph essay. Most of the class groaned. But Austin remained silent. Shortly after the bell rang.

Sarah wrote the assignment in her planner and slowly began to pack up her bag. "Band next." She sighed. Finally, something she actually liked to do.

Austin waited for Sarah outside socail studies, to show her to her next class.

After band, Sarah headed to the lunch room. She still didn't know anyone but Austin, so she staked him out. She found him in the corner, no one sitting at the table but him. She sat down on the other side of the table from hi. All talking stopped in the lunch room and everyone started staring at Sarah as if she was crazy. Whispers started at the table next to theirs.

((Very nice touch with everyone whispering, :]))
Austin looked up at her. "You shouldn't sit next to me. They'll treat you as they treat me."

"I don't care, it is better than what they did at my old school." Sarah said. She was completely ignoring peoples staring, and was just concentrating on her salad she had for lunch.

Austin had only a sandwich and a water for lunch. It wasn't enough to fill him up. But he didn't care. People used to either trip him or throw food at him. Today, it wasn't bad. But now people are talking....

"Hey you!" A preppy blond girl came over and poked Sarah in the back. Sarah turned to face her. "Yes?" She asked a little coldly. She wasn't very fond of preps. She had had a bad experience last year when they had started spreading rumors that of course everyone believed about her. No one could say no to a cheerleader. The girl looked coldly around Sarah, staring at Austin. "Why are you sitting with glow worm here?" She pointed to him. Then she turned her attention back to Sarah. "Don't you know, he oozes trouble." Sarah looked at her. "He seems better than you." She said in a emotionless tone. The girl sneered at her. "You better watch it around him. He-" the girl started. Sarah cut her off though. "He has been the only person here to even say hi to me today." Sarah said. "And he hasn't said a single thing bad about anyone, so in my book, he is doing better than you on first impressions." It all came out calmly and coolly, but she was looking at the girl with rage. "Now, let me eat with him in peace." The girl looked at her in astonishment. Sarah just turned around and back to her lunch. The girl looked at her coldly. She spilled some of her soda onto Sarah s' shoulder, saying "Oopsie, my bad" then walked back to her table to sit with her friends. Sarah just took of her coat and started eating her lunch.

Austin was silent the whole time. When the preppy girl left, he mumbled something. But Whatever he said couldn't be understood. Even to Sarah, who was the closest to him.

"Huh?" Sarah asked him. "I didn't catch that." She looked at him curiously. She took a dainty bite of her salad, still looking at him.

Austin didn't say anything right away. But soon, he said," thanks." He felt really uncomfortable thanking people.

Sarah nit her eyebrows. "I don't know what I did but okay." She stabbed another part of her salad.

"I still don't get why everyone hates you for your hair... I know people with much different hair than yours, like neon, or glow in the dark. It was crazy." Sarah trailed. She twirled her own hair. "I mean, I think, aside from you, I have the lightest hair here." It was true, even though her scalp was dark, Sarah's hair turned bright blond at her tips. "I don't dye mine either." She threw the strand back to the her back

"But, blonde hair here is acceptable. But for other colors, like mine," he said quietly, and points to his hair," it isn't considered 'a natural' hair color."

"People thought I was a witch at one of my old schools" Sarah said. She pointed at the soda stain in her jacket. "This is nothing to compare to what they did to me." She said it lightly, but her eyes went from their dark blue to a stormy gray. "I guess I'm the exact fit for all of the legends about witches." She said, taking another munch of her salad.

"Oh, yeah." Sarah said, as if it wasn't anything new. She held up her left hand. "I'm a lefty, and that raises suspicion in the first place. And then, there are my eyes. They change."

"Oh." Austin didn't really care if someone was a lefty or a righty. Plus the fact that her eyes change color....was kinda cool.
