It was the pain that woke her.
There was a throbbing in her head. The girl opened her eyes, but there was nothing there. Her heart raced. "I'm blind!" she yelled. Suddenly a light appeared. A man with glasses stood over her. "Its just dark." he said, as if it wasn't obvious. "Where am I?" Micki demnaded to know. "The insane asylum." the man chuckled darkly. "H-how long have I been here?" Micki asked. The man didn't reply.
She had escaped. It was pouring rain, it was freezing, and Micki couldn't remember anything. At least, not about herself. She knew how to read, do math, speak, and walk. But she tried to picture someone, and she couldn't.
Micki was greatful for the rain and darkness. No one would see her crying. She ducked into an alley and put her back against the wall. "Who am I?" she whispered.
