Study (Blue!)

Yuki wasn't quite sure why he even left the house anymore. Students from Kaibara would sometimes snicker if they saw him now. Oh well, what was to be expected? They'd found out about the curse. He was a boy who turned into a rat. And as Akito had once told him, that was disgusting. He sighed, and ignored stares from familiar classmates. Though he knew not all eyes were on him, it sure as he** felt like it. He sighed, and took a seat beneath the shade of a tree, opening a text book. He hadn't quite gotten to finish the homework assigned over summer vacation before the trip to the beach. He figured he'd get it done now. And that idiot Kyo was being loud and obnoxious as always, so he wouldn't get anything done at home.

Aime, like most kids, carried a truckload of books in her backpack, a hot pink mass on her back covered in pins and pictures of friends and celeberties. She was fishing around in a handbag for her cell phone, and seeing as she was a terrible multi-tasker . . .

She didn't realize she was falling until she hit the ground. Her phone, wallet, house keys, and various other items scattered all over the grass. Aime looked up and saw she had tripped over a person. "Ohmygosh!" she exclaimed, leaping to her feet and nearly falling back over. "I'm soooo sorry!" she said, apologizing as she collected her items. Her knees were covered in dirt, seeing as her short shorts barley covered her butt, let alone her knees. As she searched for her lip gloss, she brushed dirt off her pink shirt that had a designer name scrawled across the chest. She leaned down, unable to find it.

Yuki glanced up. "It's all right," he replied in that quiet voice of his. "Here, let me help you," he offered, picking up the things she missed. "Are you okay, miss?" He asked politely, holding some of her things for her. He handed them to her with a small, almost guarded smile. He reminded himself not to get too close. He didn't want to transform. And if he accidentally embraced her or something, he definitely would turn into a rat.

She finally spotted her lip gloss and dropped it in her purse, then carefully took the things from Yuki's outstretched hands. "Thanks." she said, not very quietly. "Sorry again." she added. "I just can't walk and do . . . well, anything. I can barley walk without tripping over something." Aime said, twirling her blonde hair in her fingers. Finally, she looked up at his face. She knew the face, but names were jumbled inside her head. "You're . . . Yuka! No, wait, its not Yuko, maybe its . . ." she looked down, a line deepened in her forhead before she tossed her head back up and said "Yuki!" she smiled with success. "Yes, Yuki. Thats it." Aime seemed satisfied as she held out her hand. "I'm Aime. Nice to officially meet you."

"Officially meet...?" Yuki looked confused at first. Then he realized she must know. This girl, she was without a doubt younger than he was... how far had the secret spread?! All he could think about was how much trouble he'd be in when Akito found out. He could just imagine the whipping he'd recieve, and inwardly shuddred. Nobody would know he was thinking such thoughts.

He awkwardly shook her hand, shaking purple-gray locks of hair out of his eyes as he slowly withdrew.

"Aren't you... aren't you disgusted?" He asked, a bit of confusion in his voice. A bit of fear, too. Most sixteen-year-old boys didn't act like this. But he wasn't like most. And it wasn't just because of the fact he was cursed, but also because of childhood abuse.

Aime shrugged. "I think all those twits are being immature about it." she explained. "I mean, its not like you chose that, right?" It was pretty clear Aime had common sense, and more of it that most people. "I, personally think its pretty wicked." she smiled, revealing her white, straight teeth. Her blue eyes wandered around, resting finally on Yuki. She didn't say anything, but just looked at him almost blankly.

Yuki smiled a little again. "Thank you," he said quietly, glad she didn't mind. "But it's really not that great to be cursed like this, even before others knew about it."

He wouldn't dare mention that it was a family curse. There were already suspicions that the rest of the Sohmas were like him, but those suspicions weren't yet confirmed. He didn't want to mess up again.

Aime nodded. "I didn't hear much about it, not being in high school and all, but I heard the basics." she informed him. "Its pretty brave of you not to pack up and move to the other side of the world." she said admirely. "I would absolutley DIE if that happened to me." she added. Suddenly a question popped into her head. "Does it hurt? You know when you change?" she really wanted to know if it was painful or not.

"No, not really." Yuki decided to answer her question first. Then, to her first statement, he replied simply, "I have no choice but to stay here. The head of my family doesn't want me going anywhere."

It wasn't just that. He couldn't leave. His rat spirit simply would never let him leave Akito, his 'god'. Or more accuratley, 'goddess'. He still couldn't believe Akito was actually a girl.

Aime mulled over that for a moment. "Interesting." she simply stated. Then some American pop song came from her bag and she grabbed her cell phone, hitting a button and reading a text message. "I have to go . . . soccer practice tonight. See you around!" she picked up her backpack and started home.
