Ah, the runaway shelter. A place with kids from bad homes with nowhere else to go and some others from random places. Emeric had just moved to this city, mostly for this reason. There was a lot of work that he could do around here. Plus his sister, or at least half-sister, lived around here too. He looked around at the sidewalk and concentrated his mind allowing his shields to drop slightly to allow main thoughts to slip through. Taking a step forward the blond fae paused for a moment before continuing to the door. He opened the door and stepped in looking around. He hadn't been here like some of the cops had been. It looked like a fairly nice place actually. Some of the people he had recently spoken to mentioned two twins that were staying here. Nadia and Aiden. Recently their father had been taken to jail for murder and abuse, so the girls would need a good home. But... He caught the thoughts of a shifter. He could almost smell the creature too. Why was a wolf shifter here? It should be in a pack... Was his initial thought. That would be what he would look into. There were a few local packs. The plain shifter pack and the werewolf pack. This one here smelled and 'sounded' more like the shifter kind. --- Maliki had originally been sitting in his room, reading. Although that had been starting to get boring. He planned to wander around and go talk to Nadia or Aiden. Then he caught the strangest scent. He caught the scent right as he heard the door open. Tensing he stood up and walked over to his door to listen carefully. He heard the door shut but nothing more. Who is here that smells so strange? He wondered in his thoughts. Calming himself a bit he turned to glance around. Maybe it was nothing to worry about. But the scent... What was it? ((Thought we needed a thread with Maliki and the twins. Emeric is a Social Worker, of course. XD)) |

Nadia had been in the main room of the runaway shelter with her twin, reading a book. Whell, doing her best to. She wasn't the best at reading, with lack of being taught, or at least helped when it came to reading. She glanced up as the man, Emeric, entered. She watched him curiously, not sure whether she should speak or not.

Emeric glanced around and noticed Nadia. He wasn't to unsure of himself, but he did wonder if there was one of the people that stayed here to watch the kids around. Just as he was going to talk the shifter came out of his room looking suspicious. Emeric had already heard the first thoughts about the newcomer, him. The wolf had never seen, let alone smelled a fae before. This would be interesting for them both.
"Hello. I'm Emeric Abendroth. A social worker if it helps." He greeted.
Maliki tilted his head. He had never seen this person. With his strange scent. He trailed down the hall into the room a little slowly. He stopped at the end of the hall still looking at the social worker. "What are you?" Maliki asked tilting his head.
"Excuse me?" Emeric asked a little surprised that the wolf had simply asked. Especially with a human in the room. But the human knew. He caught that from their minds. One of them, he was surprised he couldn't tell which.
"Nevermind..." Maliki mumbled walking over to sit on the couch.

Nadia had become even more interested when Maliki had come in. Especially when he asked what the man was. She looked to Maliki now, expectantly. "Why'd you ask him that?" Her voice was quiet, so hopefully the man wouldn't hear. It wasn't as if she didn't trust him, she just didn't know whether Maliki would mind him hearing or not.

"He smells funny." Maliki muttered looking down before glancing at her. "I'm Maliki." He added, directing it at the strange smelling social worker.
"Ah, yes. I know. Your Nadia and Aiden, right?" Emeric asked the twins.
Aiden nodded standing up. "So what are you here for?" She asked blinking.
"To find you a home of course." He replied.

Nadia's eyes widened slightly, in surprise. She didn't stand up, but scooted a litttle closer to Maliki. "I wanna stay, though," she protested.

"Well, you won't be moving out of the city. But you and your sister need a real home." Emeric replied. It was obvious without mind reading that she wanted to stay with Maliki.
"Why? We're fine here..." Aiden asked.
Emeric almost answered but Maliki spoke first. "It would be good for you two to get a home. I'll still see you." He said simply.
Emeric caught a thought about imprinting. That's what the shifters like Maliki did. The boy had imprinted on... Nadia apparently. It surprised Emeric a bit actually.
Maliki was thinking about how Emeric wasn't human. Emeric was still debating on whether to tell them what he was.

"Well... If... If we can still see Maliki..." Nadia said. She still wasn't sure if she wanted a new family, though. Nobody could be like her mom.
((Hee! If they get adopted, the family should have some kids already, too. Like one older boy, and then... maybe two younger kids. A boy and a girl... maybe ANOTHER set of twins? XDDDDDD))

Emeric nodded slightly. "I just wanted to meet you before I actually began the job." He explained. "Also explain to you I was looking." He said giving a slight smile.
((Bit of WB... Want Emeric to leave and Maliki can explain the weird scent? XD))

"I'm going to go. I'll probably see you again. Good bye." Emeric said turning to walk back outside.
Maliki tilted his head as he thought about the strange scent on the man. What had it been?
"He smelled odd. Inhuman. I don't know what he was..." He commented glancing down.
Aiden looked surprised as she looked back at Maliki. "How so?"
"I don't know... It's just off. He's not a vampire or anything. So I guess there's no use in worrying about it." Maliki replied.

"No. But I think he knew that I'm a shifter..." Maliki said a little uncertainly.
"How would he know that?" Aiden asked.
"I don't know... It just looked like he knew more then he was letting on..." Maliki replied.
