"No. She'll come back if she wants to. If she doesn't want to, she'll stay here. And besides, if I asked her if she was coming back to the Main House, she'd feel as if she had to." Hatori sighed. He stood up.
"I apologize for bothering you. I think I'll leave now." He turned and noticed the picture wall for the first time. "Beautiful paintings." He commented. "Did you paint them yourself, or did you buy them somewhere?"

"Amazing. A doctor and an artist." Hatori smiled faintly. Well, it wouldn't look like a smile to anyone else, but it was a smile for Hatori. He turned back to face Carlisle. "I think I may visit again soon. You wouldn't mind that, would you?"

"Not at all." Carlisle smiled.
The children sat in the next room, listening to everything. When Hatori came back out, they continued what they were doing.
Edward, Ember, and Alice were playing cards.
"You cheated!" Ember said, glaring at them. "You both cheated!" she accoused.
Edward grinned guiltly.
"Nope not me! Just Edward...." Alice said, trying to get out of Ember yelling at them.
"What ever! I know you cheated." Ember stuck her tounge out at Alice.
"Actually...it's not cheating...I'm just using my skills for a better-"Edward began, but Ember cut him off by throwing the cards at him.

Alice's twinkling laugh sounded. "Ember, quit being a sore loser!" She joked.
Hatori couldn't help but chuckle quietly.

"Stop being a cheater." Ember said, faking anger. She was a bit angry, but you could tell she was still having fun.

"Let's play again. And I'll try not to cheat." Alice laughed. Her face was blank for a milisecond. Then she grinned. She had just seen herself win the card game they were about to play.
Hatori watched the three. Edward sitting so calmly. Alice and all that bubbliness. Ember and her jokes. He noticed Kohana for the first time, watching the game. He wondered why she wasn't playing.

"I quit. You guys suck." Ember sat up, grinning slightly and walked over to Kohana and sat next to her.
"I'll just hang out with Kohana, she's alot nicer then you two!" Ember stuck out her tounge at Edward and Alice again and wrapped her arms around Kohana's shoulders.

Kohana would have blushed if she were still human. She kept waiting for the blood to rush to her cheeks, which would feel hot to her. She laughed.
Hatori watched. He too knew that Kohana would have blushed. Now he noticed she was pale as a dead person. You could not see any blood under her skin. No pinkness or redness at all. He stopped a shiver from running through him.

Hatori smiled. He realized that Kohana was smiling a real smile. Not a forced smile, but a real smile. He'd never seen her smile like that. She was very happy.
"Well, I will be on my way now." Hatori said.
"Goodbye Hatori-san." Kohana said.
