Okay this is the before story modified over and over again.Okay! Here we go!
--------------------------------------------------------------------
My One
And Only Daniel
Taylor was walking side by side with Daniel, who has been my best friend since kindergarten. He has some Indian features, but with ice blue eyes and black spiky hair.
The Point of this story is that Daniel, my Daniel, was moving to Brazil in 6 short months. My time is rare with him. Today we were going to have a picnic at the Jefferson memorial park.
I spread the red and white checkered blanket on the grass. Daniel Sat down and layed his head against the tree we are using for shade. The heat was intense today, everywhere felt sticky with heat.
"God, it's hot today," Daniel moaned.
"I know. It's getting hotter everyday it seems like."I said breathing hard.
I opened the picnic basket looking for our Elementary yearbook and our Junior high yearbook in the process of looking for the other one. I also grabbed two subway sandwiches.
I opened the Elementary yearbook and looked for Daniel's name.I found his name and looked at his picture from 5th grade.
"Remember this guy?" I giggled and pointed at his 5th grade Picture.
Daniel laughed his normal laugh and choking on his sandwich at the same time. "Give me that!" as took the book from my small hands. His cheeks were a calm pink. I giggled continuously.
I took a bite of my sandwich, while he flipped through the pages rather fast. The book suddenly flipped onto the blanket right near my knees.
"Who's that?" Daniel chuckled at the short brunette in the picture. I blushed a bright pink.
"That's not one of my best pictures," I confessed while I blushed a brighter pink. Since I was only 11 and 4'6, I was a pretty short kid. "Do you remember? The camera people had to get me a booster seat to get the camera angle right?"
"That's right! I was waiting for you...."Daniel trailed off as he looked into my eyes. I couldn't hold his stare. As an 11 year-old, I couldn't, and I couldn't now, at 17! I looked at the blanket. His fingers slid under my chin and angled my face so that my eyes looked directly into his. His icy eyes searched my face.
"Can I tell you something? Something... important."
"The blanket's yours." I joked, trying to keep calm. It didn't help much when my heart raced under my chest, like a rabbit running away from it's predator. He chuckled, his smile became thoughtful, then disappeared.
His light russet skin looked calm but thoughtful. He was in deep thought, like he was arguing with himself. He suddenly braced himself, his courage won.
"I love you..." He whispered.
Daniel's eyes searched my face vigorously. He would be expecting an answer, but I was speechless... My mind had disconnected.
All this time we had been best friends since six years of age, and now he confesses love for me? Was it possible?
His large hands still held my face. his expression was confused. I don't know how long we stayed like that. I was so dazed, I didn't even realize the sun was even setting. I ignored it anyway. It felt like it was just me and him on the face of the planet. That's all I needed. That's when I realized, I loved him too. I needed him to keep myself going to survive. His friendship, his love. I couldn't reject him now, my heart would shatter to pieces.
I gathered my courage for what I was about to say. My heart was thundering inside my chest,I am afraid if it would burst.
" Wow, Daniel, wow." I said my cheeks flaming. his eyes turned to a sudden concerned expression.
"What did I say? Did I upset you Taylor?" He panicked as he pulled me closer to his face.
"Not at all. What you just said made me realize that...." I trailed of as his icy eyes poured into mine.
"That you what? Please tell me Taylor, I won't be upset if you reject me. I need to know, Taylor." Daniel pleaded.
"That," I took a giant breath. "I love you too Daniel, and that I will never reject you, ever in my life." Taylor confessed.
Daniel let out a relived sigh as I buried my face into his chest hiding my flaming cheeks. Some wet little droplets fell into my hair while I used his shirt for a towel. After my eyes ran out of tears, and my breathing became even again. He slipped his fingers under my chin once again. I looked at his icy blue eyes, as he looked at my probably red, swollen, mud brown eyes.
His eyes were still open, then he blinked and his eyes closed and so did mine. His lips found mine with a sudden burst of urgency. I noticed that he tighten his hold and pushed me closer to his face with his hand. My arms locked around his neck, I didn't even think about unlocking them. I pulled him closer to me and I was on my back, so he was on top of me.Our lips matched each other's movements. His lips molded mine in a warm satisfying way. The happiest night of my life, was with him.
And this was how I liked it.
Daniel pulled away and smiled, his weird, nerdy smile he hated, but I have secretly loved. He traced his lips around the nape of my neck to the edge of my jaw. His lips were at my ear.
"I should get you home, shouldn't I?" he whispered. Honestly I didn't think I could walk, my head was spinning like a top.
" Maybe, if I can walk." I giggled. He chuckled happily." Maybe in a few minutes. Honestly I can't feel my legs right now."
" I should get off you,"
"Yeah." I looked the sunset. This was so beautiful to me, he gently picked up my hand, and intertwined my fingers with his.I sat up slowly, closed my eyes and breathed deeply.
" Are you okay?" He asked a little worried.
"I'm fine, just a little dizzy..."I answered. " How about you?"
"I'm flying,"
"Me too, you have no idea." I said breathless.
"Open your eyes, Taylor."
I did as he told me. I found his rather remarkable face, oh so close to mine.
"You know that I love you right?"
"Yeah?" I said. Confused.
He moved in again.
Daniel's POV
I love her. I love her so much it hurts. As I sit here kissing her... I can tell she loves me just as much.
I move closer to her. I pull her delicate face to mine and kiss her lips softly. I pull away after a matter of seconds. I open my eyes and find hers still closed. Our noses brush each other's sending me to shiver. I lean my forehead onto hers. She opens her gorgeous chocolate brown eyes and flutters her long, dramatic, black eyelashes.
"Why so quick?" She asked pouting. I want to give her so much more. But the sun has vanished out of sight. I look at her in the silvery moonlight. Her eyes look away again and linger on the blanket. I laugh quietly and smile. I slide my fingers under her chin and angle her face so she's looking directly at me.
"I would and will give you so much more." I whisper smiling crookedly. I hate my smile. I sit up and put the yearbooks back in the picnic basket. We both get up as I get all the trash and throw it away, while Taylor daintily folds the corners of the blanket over and over again. I stood there watching. Her movements are so graceful it's mesmerizing. My trance was quickly broken and I was forcibly pulled back into reality. I check my watch, 9:13 p.m. We were ding fine. She put the blanket back in her picnic basket and stood up.
"Are you taking me home?" Taylor asked.
"Maybe in a minute." I say sitting down on a wooden park bench. Taylor came and sat next to me, shivering.
"Oh, here," I walked back over to the basket under the tree and took out my light jacket. I walk back over to the bench and drape the way-too-big jacket over her shoulders.I smoothly sit down and lay my arm over her shoulders, my hand rubbing the outside of her arm. I kiss her cheek. And her same response, is blushing a bright pink.
Taylor throws her around me. I put my hands on her back and rub them up and down it. A single thought ruined that perfect moment.
What will I do without her?
