((Yes, another one of my weird fan-fics XD This one has to do with Kira and her siblings.))
Freshman year. Joy.
I walked down the halls of the high school. So much different then the middle school building. So much bigger. It was almost over-whelming.
It had been almost two years since my parent's disappeared. My siblings and I still haven't heard at all from them. It's like they just fell off the face of the planet with no warning what-so-ever.
Or maybe someone gave them a push.
I had dropped my daughter off at day care. Yes, I have a daughter. No, I'm not like that kind of girl who just goes around and gets herself pregnant so don't even think about saying it.
I looked for a familiar face. I saw a few that I knew. Silver-haired Ayame, Shigure, Hatori...
I picked out the face of my sister. Looking worried as usual. She rushed over to me.
"Are you okay!?! Did something happen!?! I arrived two minutes before you!! You are never this late!!" Takara fretted loudly, gasping my shoulders and shaking them. Her pale green eyes were wide as she stared at me and worried over my being two minutes later then her.
"I'm fine... really." I told her calmly. Takara took a few deep breaths to calm herself. I chuckled silently to myself. Takara, my sister, worries alot. I guess that she's just afraid that every one will leave, because she didn't used to be that way.
She finally let go of my shoulders. I told her the reason that I was 'late' so that she didn't give herself a heart attack.
"I just went talk to L." I told her. She nodded, then rushed off to somewhere because she forgot something.
I looked at the sheet of paper that was handed to all the freshmen. My first was down stairs. Okay... no big. My classes weren't that far apart. I wouldn't get lost...
I was still reading it when I started down the stairs. I yelped as I lost my footing, tripping down the stairs. The I hit my head at the bottom of the steps. I groaned, my eye squeezed shut, a loud throbbing in my head. I pushed my self into sitting position and opened my eyes to see a crowd of people at the top of the stairs, some smirking, some looking at my with terrified expressions. I felt my face and neck heat up. I was blushing. Great. probably as red as a beet.
"Miss Arata, are you alright?" Asked a voice behind me. I jumped and and turned my head to see Hatori.
"Oh! I'm fine!" I said, getting up, the throbbing still in my head.
"Are you sure, you might have a concussion." Hatori said in his almost monotone voice.
"You shouldn't worry about me, I'm fine! I'm promise!" I told him, my face still red.
Hatori convinced to go get my head checked out. It was fine.

After school, the three of us were walking home. I had pick up my child and my sister had picked up her two kids. Kyoshi was talking a mile a minute, eating some candy, and Kiyoshi walked beside my daughter, Shade. Kiyoshi looked like L the most. His eye lashes were very dark, giving him the appearance that he was wearing eye-liner. He had L's messy black hair, but he had his mother's green eyes.
Shade and Kyoshi looked like me. Strait black hair, bright green eyes, petite bodies.
"Kira!" Called Kyoshi. I looked down at the two year old. "More candy?" She asked me. I handed her a small sucker that she gladly stuck in her mouth.
"She's going to be bouncing off the walls..." Takara said, looking at the child that was already hyper enough.
"L said sugar is good for young brain development." I meekly told her. I didn't say anything after that and she just allowed me to feed her more sugar. I would have to take care of her later anyway.
We soon made it to the two story blue house that we all lived in. Shade yawned loudly.
"Sleepy." She murmured. I put my little girl to bed, then crashed down on the couch, feeling rather tired myself.
"Are you okay?" My sister asked me. I nodded.
"How's your head?" She asked me again. I looked up at her, my face reddening.
"Kira's reeeed!" said Kyoshi in a sing-song voice.
"I'm fine." I said to Takara, who started making dinner. I began to work on my homework.
Kyoshi had to go to bed early because of all the sugar.
I sighed and rubbed my temples.
"Are you feeling okay?" My worrisome sister asked me.
I nodded. "Yeah...I'm fine.
---
"Haa-san got to talk to a pretty girl today."
"Oh really? Who was it?"
"You two are idiots. She fell down the stairs and I was making sure she didn't hurt herself." Hatori said with an almost agitated sigh.
Ayame snickered a bit.
He sighed again.
Shigure grined. "Anyway, who was it?" Shigure asked.
"Kira Arata." He responded.
Shigure grinned widely. "Wow, Haa-san." Was all that he was able to say.
~Flashback~
Halloween. Warm. Walking past that house.
It had been abandoned for a while now. My sister watched it warily. She always eyed that house like that. Ever since that night.
That night....
I was wearing all black that night. I wasn't really dressed up, but I didn't want to look strange with all these people wearing costumes and we weren't. So we just wore all black.
I had split from Takara and Lawliet. I was all by myself now. Watching as kids in flashy clothes ran around with huge bags of candy.
I had gotten some candy while just walking tonight. I mean, what's the point of Halloween if you don't have candy?
"Hey! You!" I heard some one call me. I turn around to see a many with scruffy brown hair and dark eyes. He jogged to catch up with me. "Why are you out here all alone?" He asked me. I looked up at the older man. He honestly seemed too old to be trick-or-treating to me. Maybe he had a kid running around somewhere.
"I'm not." I told him. I wasn't really. My brother and sister were off somewhere.
"Then were is the rest of your family?" He asked. I shrugged.
"Somewhere." I told him. He chuckled at me. I continued to walk, but I noticed that he had stopped walking. I looked around, most of the people were clearing out. It was almost ten...
I turned around to face him, then something hard came into contact with my face. I let out a small shriek, but he covered my mouth with his hand.
"Shut up." He hissed at me. I whimpered, and nodded, as if telling him that I would shut up.
He slowly took his hand off of my mouth, then his hands roughly grabbed my arm and pulled it out forcefully. I tried to struggle against him, but he was just so big. And much too strong. I couldn't break loose.
Another pair of arms wrapped around my waist from behind. I let out a scream, the arms pulled me closer and tighter. I just wanted to break away. I wanted to run away, but I couldn't. I was too weak.
He had a bat. That was what what he hit me with earlier. Ouch. that had hurt. Al ot. My head was still pounded from it. My ears were ringing.
He rose his hand again, striking me again. I got knocked out.
What felt like hours later, I finally woke up. The whole room was spinning wildly. I couldn't concentrate on anything around me.
Two faces.
"Do you remember me, now?" A man asked, swinging the bat back and forth. I was majorly confused. What?
I saw that my hands were tied. Another man appeared next to him. He had black hair with blond highlights.
I remembered what happened to my sister and my eyes widened.
The man smirked. "So you do remember." He said in a gruff voice.
The next thing I knew the guy with highlights was giving me a shot of some kind. It made me feel very dizzy. I couldn't think straight and soon I couldn't really see either.
He smirked again. "You know I mark all of my victim." The other guy let out a grunt. "Our victims of course." He added.
He grabbed something. I was hardly able to see what it was.
He advanced towards me. I struggled as I felt him touch me. I let out another scream as he pulled up my shirt a bit. I struggled against him. But nothing could be helped.
I felt the needle pierce my skin. Goosebumps traveled up my arms. Tattoo. He was giving me a tattoo. Something that I could look at everyday and be reminded of him.
I didn't need a tattoo to be reminded of him.
It was horrifying. I couldn't do anything about it. Nothing.
I guess that I passed out after he finished tattooing me.
--
Takara and L had finished walking.
"Hm... Takara? Where is Kira-chan?" L asked his older sister.
"I dunno. She left a while ago. But she said that she would meet us here." Takara said.
"But she's not here." L stated.
"I can kinda see that, L." Takara said.
"We should look for her." He said simply.
Takara looked a bit worried, but she jsut said, "Maybe we should just wait for her to come home." She said. Lawliet nodded and followed his sister, but he had other plans.
Once home Takara went to sleep, seeing that it was eleven thirty. Lawliet stayed up. He grabbed a thicker jacket since it was colder outside. He quietly snuck out of the house. You couldn't see anything in the inky darkness, only shadows moving.
He went back to were they supossed to meet up. Kira wasn't there. He traced his and his sister's stepsto the point where Kira had split from the group. He went in the direction that she had gone.
That's when he heard it. A scream. Lawliet was surprisied that noone else had heard it. He bolted off in the direction it had came from. He ran half a block, before he lost her again.
C'mon Kira... scream again. I'm still here. I'm still here... Lawliet thought despertly as if Kira could read minds or something. He felt tears sting his eyes. What ever was happening, it wasn't good.
--
My scream had died down to a seris of whimpers. But now I was numb. Unfeeling. My eyes starring out into nothingness. The new tattoo burning red hot on my skin because it wasn't the right kind of needle or the right kinds of ink. The seahorse, outlined in black, with a little black eye, and the red and blue scales running down it's body and curled tail.
I whimpered loudly. I could only guess what could happen next. I looked over at the man in the background as he just looked on, a deadly smirk on his face.
--
Lawliet was trying to catch his breath. He had just jogged around the area, no Kira. The time was reaching closer to midnight. Where was Kira? Lawliet was very tired. His eyelids drooped, his body threatening to go to sleep on the spot. But that thought that Kira, his beloved sister, might be in danger, kept him awake.
His body went ridig as he heard a sharp, short wail. He knew where she was now, in a ware house. He sprinted toward the warehouse.
His hands were almost frozen cold at this point. His was barely able to get them to opperate to remove the carelessly placed chain. It drapped between the two door handles, giving the appearance that it was locked, but there was no actual lock. Lawliet tugged hard, the chain slid down to the ground loudly, he bursted in. His first reaction was a loud gasp.
--
Kira looked up, at first she thought that she was halucinating for stress.
"Lawliet!" She wailed deperately. The man spun around.
Only to face the barrel of a nine millimeter.
The little hand gun had been carelessly placed on the table. The gun was small, sleek. But why overkill? It only takes one bullet to kill a man.
Lawliet didn't even blink as he pulled the trigger. It seemed to slow down for a spilt second. The shell casing falling out of the barrell, clinking quietly against the ground, glinting in the dull, florecennte lights. The bullet, sleek and golden colored, sliding easily out of the barrell of the black hand gun.
Then it sped up. The bullet buried it's self into the man's forhead, kiling him instantly. I shut my eyes as I felt something warm and wet splatter against my body. I resisted the urge to scream again. I bit my lip untill I tasted my own blood in my mouth.
I opened my eyes again, to find myself covered in the mans blood. He had dropped dead beside. I whimpered, looking at him. His eyes were still open. They were hazel. I just noticed that they were hazel.
Lawliet had turned to the other man.
"DON'T TOUCH MY SISTERS AGAIN, YOU BA*****!" He yelled. Suddenly, five, short, but loud bangs filled the room. I winced at every one, Lawliet, once again, didn't even blink.
The man had fallened to the ground dead as the first bullet slid past his rib cage, penetrating his heart. But even as he was one the ground, Lawliet stood over his body, shooting the dead man in the chest five more times, before dropping the gun. He turned to me. His face blank.
"They won't hurt you again." He said to me. I watched him.
--
That night, my sister was motified to find me covered in blood, crying, and shaking. She imedately called the police, and told them what happened. I sat on the couch, covered in blood, staring blankly at the wall.
--
That's when Lawliet... L, was taken away. My brother who saved my life, taken away from me. It's been three years now. It's been a long time. My sister and I live here, in the same house, barely holding on. Having three todlers doesn't help as well. But we do the best we can.
