How The Caged Bird Feels

After so long Emeric was unsure if he really should be showing up at home. Just, poof. I'm home! Surely Takara would just tell him to leave again. He was just setting her up for more mental trauma, and then himself for more hurt feelings. But, surely, she had heard that it was impossible for him to be there? After all, he had been at work. He had witnesses. Then Kira, perhaps L, at least the ones that knew about fae would be able to have met the conclusion he had. Though they probably hadn't looked for the other fae, he had. Despite the fact that he had been unable to reach the fae, he now knew that it had been the other fae that had harmed Takara. So long as Takara would listen to him, things should be okay. Right?

All he needed to do was explain... Maybe ask her if she really believed he would hurt her like that. Which he would not. Never. He hadn't even really left despite the fact that she had obviously wanted him gone. Though he could catch a slight loophole, and figured that as long as she couldn't see him, he could still help her out. Watch out for her. Make sure she ate as she should, find out ways to set out things she needed so that she would notice them. It wasn't like he had to work anyway. A few hundred years left a nice bit of money under a few bank accounts. Enough for him to take off for a while and be fine. Which is basically what he'd done. His boss has understood. Naturally, considering what had happened.

Though the case with the police had been sort of left unsolved, he had contacted the Gray Lords about finding this fae. Which Emeric had found out that the fae was not even in Japan any longer. He refused to leave the country to track the thing down. Not that he didn't want revenge, he just wasn't stupid enough to go for it and leave Takara here alone. Yes, technically she wasn't really alone, but since he'd been watching her he hadn't seen much of her family around.

So here he was, walking into the house, making plenty of noise. It was one in the afternoon. She might not be home. He hadn't seen her around today. Glancing into the living room- though he knew she wasn't there he just had to check- he saw no one in there. Frowning he decided to wait a while. He walked into the living fully and sighed.

Something just didn't feel so right.

"Why are you here?" The voice was smooth, cold, like slick ice. "You're no longer welcomed here." Kira Sohma made her way into the room, the soft click-click of her heels against the hardwood floor was currently the only other side besides Emeric's own movements.

Kira cast a sidelong glance at an end table with a drawer in it. In said drawer, was a small revolver. Kira didn't even know if that old thing still fired properly, but if worst came to worst, Kira wasn't above using it. Either to shoot him or bash his brains out with the handle.
"So I suggest you leave... now."

Emeric blinked and flicked his gaze over to Kira before slightly turning his head toward her. Not completely acknowledging the fact that he had caught precisely what she was thinking of doing if he didn't adhere to what she said. "Where's Takara? Haven't seen her today..." He trailed off. Yes, it had crossed his mind that 'watching' her could be considered stalking. But really, he had also come to the conclusion that she was his wife, he loved her, so he didn't want harm to come to her. Which had when he had not been with her. Several times. So, he was not inclined to leave her alone even if she didn't want him around.

He shrugged just slightly, looking away, a rather calm expression on his face. Though if you knew him well you would know it was more glazed over and sort of lost. Which was rare, Emeric Abendroth was rarely lost. "She's not hurt is she?" He asked quietly, adding, "He left Japan, so I couldn't find him..." In a mumbled tone. More so to himself. Another glance shot at Kira. Slight wariness about it.

Kira lifted an eyebrow, placing her hands on her hips and cocking her head in an arrogant manner she said, "What, you been watchin' her or something?" She dropped one hand and stared at Emeric again.
"Do you really think I'm stupid enough to tell you where she is, anyways? That is, if I knew." She said, knowing that this man was a mind reader she had told Takara to never tell her where she was going incase he decided to read her mind. Even though Kira was getting older, the woman hadn't lost her sharp edge and she could still plan out things before hand, so that the situation could fall into her favor.

"She's perfectly fine." She said sharply.

Emeric looked over at her. His gaze sharpening slightly. "I didn't hurt her. But she told me to leave so I did." He stated. Frowning he glanced away for a moment. Not understanding why everyone would simply say it was him, not checking other possiblies. As well as the facts. He had been at work. Not to mention, why? No motive. He wasn't crazy like that.

"Fae can change their appearence, you know. Easy enough another hurt her..." He had thought wrong about them making other conclusions not involving him. Maybe they were just angry, thus not thinking of others. Or maybe he really was that untrustworthy.

"When it comes to Fae, I really don't trust them. For all I know, you could be lying by omission." Kira stated out.
"Besides, if Fae can change your appearences, then you could be working with another Fae that was your stand-in at work. All of you Fae are sneaky little bast@rds, anyways." She spat, knowing exactly how rasist that sounded, and for a woman who was dead set against rasism and sexism, she really did not care at that moment.

"Then why would I hurt her? I've had plenty of time to wrong her, and I have not." Emeric replied, shooting a slight glare at Kira. "And so if Fae can lie, there really is no proving we cannot or can." He added turning to face her better. "Feelings aside, I have no logical reason to even care for Takara, let alone harm her. So why? Even if you think we're all sneaky little b****rds as you say, then I still have nothing to gain by harming her. Only to lose."

When he said all emotion aside, he meant it. None slipped into his tone. Blank it was. "And even so, why are you not looking for the truth? I assumed things like this would matter more to you, as it seems you show it now, enough that you would check things out before throwing rather blind accusations." He stated. Though he realized more so after he'd said it that they weren't completely blind accusations. Even though he believed them to be. After all, Takara had seen who had hurt her, hadn't she? Which to her, was him.

"But I must add, what's with the sudden hatred of all Fae? How many have you known exactly? You can't say all dogs are bad because one bit you, or simply even one breed." He stated this rather sharply. A little out of his usual persona really. But he kept it as that.

((Meh... XP Lots of dialogue...))

"Why would you want to hurt her? Ha, do you have to ask? Fae were built and created to hunt humans, I'm supposed to be your prey." She told him before adding on more with the narrowing of her eyes. "Any man my sister has made contact with has wanted to abuse her then throw her aside like a peice of trash. I most certainly plan on not letting you do that again to her."

Kira begun to get even more upset. She hated this man right now, she wanted to gut him, put his head on a pike, shoot him, something. Blind?! Those were not blind accusations.
"Are you called Takara a liar! Are you saying that she simply made up what she saw that night?" Kira challenged.

As to his second question, Kira almost laughed again. "Like I've said. We're your prey. Mice hate all cats, why don't you go and preach to them too, Mr. Fae." She snapped.

"I would never hurt her!" Emeric snapped, aggravated now. "I'd still have had plenty of time. Why now? Why call the cops? When Fae hurt someone they kill them and there is no possibility of them being caught. 'less another is framed." He turned pacing back the opposite way, turning back to her. The way his hair fell over his eyes now looked rather dark.

"And I said nothing about her lying!" He threw back, turning again. The Fae had come to possibly speak to Takara now he was getting upset, and snapping at her sister. Wonderful outcome, wasn't it? He lowered his head, inhaling and exhaling. Turning back just slightly. "You're not going to believe me, or care, no matter what I say. But I'm not leaving." He said calmly. "I want to talk to her. I really don't care who listens though, I just-" He would of finished with 'want to talk', but that would be a lie. He wanted her to trust him again, and he wanted to hold her. This was a lot worse then when she was hurt before, when it had nothing to do with him, and she'd told him to leave. Which he had done. He'd done what she wanted. But he wasn't doing what Kira wanted, the only care he had for this woman here was through Takara. Otherwise he cared nothing for her.

"Besides, this is my house as well." He stated, still looking at her out of the corner of his eye.

((Assuming that Takara moved in with him and all. XD))

"Unless this is a ploy to make you look innocent! I'm not stupid!" Kira exclaimed to his first comment. "You said that other things should matter, I think that the word of my own sister matters pretty d*mn much." She said.
"Well you can't talk to her." Kira said, crossing her arms. "She's not here. And if you show up again, I won't bother with a restraining order because I'll be too busy puttin' a hole in your head, is that clear?" She asked.

Emeric just watched her for a moment. Debating what to say next. Nothing coming to mind just yet. But he was feeling either stupid, daring, or he just didn't care. "Okay. Do it. Why not do it now? Save yourself the trouble later." He replied. Voice void of emotion. "Surely you've got something, even if that gun doesn't work, to put a hole in my head." He added.
"As far as your concerned, I deserve it. Right? And to me, I'm thinking I probably do anyway. Afterall, I was unable to prove myself innocent, and protect Takara." He added softly, glancing away now.

((Hm... If you want I figured the phone could ring and someone is calling them about Takara or something... XD))

Kira clenched her teeth.
"Fine. If that's what you really want. I don't want to shoot you, coming again would be something of a brave man, now you're just a coward." She said bitterly, but that didn't stop her for reaching from the gun.

Then the phone rang.

Kira was hesitant to answer it, but moved her hand away from the drawer and picked up the phone that had been perched neatly on the end table. She plucked it up and put the receiver against her ear.
"Abendroth Residence." She said quickly.
"Kira? Is that you? I was wondering if Mom was home..." The voice was Kiyoshi's.
"Uuh... not at the moment..."

Emeric might have replied if the phone had not rung, or if he had had a reply. It did rather surprise him that she would be angry with him then tell him she didn't want to shoot him. Or maybe he shouldn't have been surprised really. Should any mind reader be surprised so easily? He caught that it was Kiyoshi on the phone. Wondering why he was calling now.

As Kira answered he walked to the doorway and just stood there. Perhaps an odd thing to do. But he had meant it when he said he wasn't leaving.

((Eh... xP Is Kiyoshi gonna come or something? XD))

Kira's eyes followed Emeric like a waorried cat.

"Well, I'm going to come over anyways. See ya there." Kiyoshi gave no room to protest. Typical man. Kira sighed and hung up.
"That was your step son on the phone." Kira informed him. "He's stopping by."

Emeric glanced over at her. Rather curiously. "Why's that?" He asked, rather blankly.

"I don't know, probably to help his mother a bit." Kira suggested a bit sarcatically. Honestly she didn't know, maybe the man wanted to make her dinner or something...

"Kiyoshi can't cook well. I'm pretty sure he wouldn't bother offering. 'less he was a making sandwiches or something." Emeric replied, pretty much to her thoughts rather then her words.

Kira looked a bit surprised.
"Get out of my head!" She exclaimed a bit comically, followed by the light flailing of her arms. She turned her back to Emeric as if that would held and placed her hands against her head and forced herself to think irrelevant things.

Not long after that, the door opened and Kira turned to it, growing now worried. Her sister stepped in, holding a bag in onw hand, her purse in another and her keys clutched tightly in her fist. As a teenager, Takara had learned that a nice weapon to use while walking the streets at night incase you were to be jump could be your keys. For a very long time, Takara would hold her keychain in her fist, with a key between each finger of her balled up hand, it was like brass knuckles... with spikes.

Takara offered a small smile at first to her sister, untill her green eyes landed on Emeric and she instantly dropped everything she was carying and fumbled with her keys to place them in their order between her fingers, a frightened look on her face.

Emeric jumped when she dropped the bags. His eyes flicking to her hand movements. "I'm not going to hurt you Takara." He stated, stepping back. Thinking maybe that would better show what he meant. Normally he would have offered to help pick up the bags, but this wasn't exactly 'normally'.

There was obvious hurt in his eyes from seeing Takara drop her bags and jump like that because of him. He glanced down. The fright in her eyes and on her face. Here he'd wanted to talk to her, but now he felt he was foolish to even show up today. Looking back up at her, he just looked at her. Almost wishing she would just understand he hadn't hurt her, that he was only here because he wanted to her to understand that. Forgive him for not protecting her maybe. Something. Anything, but her looking at him like that. "You don't have to do that..." He said softly looking down at her hands and swallowing.

"H-how do I know that?" Takara asked warily, still weilding the keys like a weapon. "How do I know?" She repeated in a steadier, but not much stronger, voice. For now, her sister was forgotten, but the woman was reaching over for the old revolver in the drawer.
