It was two in the afternoon, and a weekday, so there weren't many people out, as most were working. There were a few teenagers, and even a few elderly people out, but aside from that, not too many adults. It was pretty quiet, except for people talking of course. Kairi walked along the sidewalk, fairly silent, sketching on a little steno notepad with a pencil. It probably wasn't a very good idea, but she'd been putting this one off for a while and she needed to get it done soon. She let out a little grunt of annoyance when she'd mess something up as she walked, or smile in satisfaction when something came out better than how she'd wanted it. It was a rough sketch of a mural a museum had requested that she pain.
Then, of course, she just had to collide with something. She drew a dark line clear across the page out of the shock, and then dropped what she'd been holding, and nearly tumbled backward herself.
"Sh*t!" She muttered, kneeling down and grabbing the pencil and notepad. "Ugh, sorry," she muttered, standing up now and dusting off the skirt she wore. She tucked the pencil behind her ear and stuck the steno pad in the pocket of a very light jacket she was wearing. She looked at him, not quite in the eyes, and her cheeks heated up. "I guess it's stupid of me to be drawing and walking at the same time, right? Sorry..." She apologized again. The guy looked vaguely familiar. She hadn't met him before, but she saw him out here quite a bit, with a woman, probably his wife or something. She'd noticed before he was fairly... handsome, but hadn't thought much of it. She wasn't finding herself really interested in getting into a relationship right now. Wayyyy too busy. She looked up at the clouds overhead. Looked like it might storm later.
((Meh. I tried. Devon could be out running errands or something. xD))

((XD Kay.))
Devon grunted slightly as the girl ran into him. Not that it hurt or anything, just a bit surprising. "It's fine." Was all Devon replied to the girl that had run into him. "What were you drawing?" He asked. Kinda random, but Devon had found himself becoming more anti-social then normal so he wanted to come out of his shell that he had made for himself.

Kairi smiled a little, though her face was still flushed a rosy pink. It really was embarrassing to collide with someone. She pulled the note pad out again and showed it to him.
"It's not finished yet. A museum wants me to pain a mural for them. This is the sketch so far," she explained. "It's like for some sort of zodiac thing. I'm debating whether or not I should put the cat in this..."
It seemed to be sillhouettes of animals. "And I'm not sure what I should do for the god, y'know? They wanted me to include the god..." She frowned.
((xD I really wanted to do that. xD))

Devon cracked a small, almost sad smile. "You should. But maybe you should make god a girl..." Devon couldn't help but suggest. "But, it's your mural so do whatever ou want. It's good so far." He said to her.

Kairi wondered why this guy seemed sad.
"Hmm... a girl... That's a good idea," she stated, smiling a bit herself. But this smile wasn't sad, like Devon's was.
"You don't ever hear of the god in the story being a girl, but why shouldn't it be?" Kairi scribbled a note to herself on a new sheet of the paper, so she'd remember to make the god a girl. "Ah, my name's Kairi Jinsei, by the way. You?"

"Devon Cullen." Devon said to her, running one hand through his peroxide blonde hair. He bowed slightly to her, a habit he had picked up from living in Japan for such a long time.

"Great to meet you," Kairi said, bowing back. She fiddled with a strand of her hair, twisting it around her finger. Some might say she looked a little like Akito, as far as hair length and face shape went.

"Do you mind if I walk with you to were ever you were going?" The blonde asked, smiling slightly at her. She seemed friendly and approachable.

Kairi shrugged. "Not at all. Really, I'm just walking around. You might get bored." She laughed lightly. She flipped to a new page. She wanted to practice drawing the god... or rather, goddess. "Long hair, or short hair...?" she mumbled to herself. She chewed on the eraser end of her pencil.

Devon moved to walk beside her. "I won't. I wasn't doing anything." He said. Suddenly, before he could control himself, he said. "Short hair." He looked down bashfull. "Well... in my mind, I see the goddess with short plum hair and dark ocean-like eyes." He murmured.

Kairi looked a little surprised, then imagined it. The image was certainly fitting for a goddess... "Great idea," she mumbled, beginning a very rough sketch. It didn't have to look good right now. She just needed an idea of how to paint it on the wall. "You have good hearing," she said. Of course, maybe the reason people never responded before when she talked to herself like that was because they just didn't know what to say. "And a good imagination," she added.
Hey, it's not like she knew that this guy was in love with a person who'd once been cursed with a god spirit!

Devon smiled. "Thanks." He said. "So which musuem is your mural going in?" He asked her.

"Tokyo Museum," Kairi replied, shrugging. "Probably the biggest one in this area. I guess a lot of people're gonna see it. I like doing this stuff. It really pays," she said, smiling. It helped. She wasn't really very wealthy. She didn't have much money at all. Bills sucked.

"I'll be sure to see it after it's completed." Devon informed her with a smile.

Kairi grinned. "Really? Thanks, that means a lot. I don't think I'm all that good, but I'm always told I am..." she mumbled. "I've already done a few murals for that museum. Along with school ones and stuff. It's pretty fun to do. I get all messy, though. The paint I use is hard to wash off, too..." She yawned quietly as she trailed off.

Devon chuckled. "If museums are requesting your work your probably good." He said. She smirked at the messy part. "Do you use oil paint?" He asked.

"Yeah. And others. Basically all the types I can get my hands on. Not like I use all of them for murals. But it's fun to experiment," Kairi explained, walking forward and looking around. Some things seemed to catch her eye and she'd suddenly start sketching while walking. She tended to see things that sparked ideas having nothing to do what what it was she'd seen. Then she'd just have to draw that idea.
Without looking up from her paper and pencil, she asked, "What do you do?"

Devon thought for a quick moment, a second in real time, he didn't have a job... "I'm the head of a family." He explained. "The Sohma's."

"Wow! Really? I've heard of the Sohma family," Kairi said. Then she looked confused. "But you said your last name was Cullen," she added. How'd that work?

Devon grimaced slightly. "I wan married to a Sohma... but we recently divorced." He told her.
