Akito followed behind him.
Kairi merely waited at the room. She hoped that whichever choice Devon made, it was the one that would make him happiest.

Akito was able to fall in step with him now, because she was a vampire and much faster. So she could keep up with him, despite the fact his legs were much longer than hers.
"That woman..." Akito mumbled, referring to Kairi. "...is she kind?" She asked, chewing hard on her lower lip. It should have been bleeding by now, but she was a vampire and couldn't bleed.

Devon nodded. "Yes, she is." Devon said blankly, not looking at Akito. Once outside, he called out to his daughter. "Mary!"

Mary came running when she'd heard her father call for her. Did she smell her mother with him? No, she must have been imagining things.
But then she got to them. She stopped in her tracks and her eyes widened.
"Mom! Mommy!" She rushed forward, embracing her mother tightly around the legs. "I knew you'd come back! I knew it! Daddy didn't think you would, but I knew you'd come back!" She started crying, and Akito picked her up. She kissed her daughter's forehead.
"I'm very happy to see you," she murmured, holdinig her daughter tightly. "You have no idea how much I missed you and your father."
Mary looked over at Devon. "See Daddy? Told you Mommy would miss you!" She said, grinning ear to ear.
Akito just proceeded to hold her daughter, so glad to be back. Of course, not all was well. She still desperately wanted Devon to believe her. But for now, she didn't keep her concentration on that want--no, that need for his trust.
But if in the end, Devon wanted her to leave, she just... wasn't strong enoug. She wasn't strong enough to leave the Main House once again, even if it was what would in the end make Devon happy. So she prayed he didn't feel that way, because she wanted at least her daughter to love her.

Devon wanted to snap at Akito, tell her to stop lying to the child but he kept his mouth shut for the moment, and just sent the smallest of glares towards Akito when his daughter had her heard turned.
"Yes... I need to speak to your Mom." Devon said to Mary, but was looking at Akito.

Akito flinched when Devon glared at her.
Mary nodded, not noticing when her mother flinched, or when her father glared. Akito gently set Mary down with another kiss to the girl's forehead. Mary ran off to go tell her friends that Akito was back.
Akito looked at Devon, wondering what it was he wanted to say to her.

Akito was angered again, and she reacted to what he said without thinking.
"I'm not lying to her!" She snapped. Her fists clenched and she couldn't help but glare almost murderously at the man. But her voice was high pitched and cracking as she yelled at him. "I missed you both! I never wanted to leave. How... how can't you understand that? I'm not lying to you! And I would never dare lie to our child!"
How could she think she'd lie to Mary's face. Did he think that she'd actually sink so low?
Of course, she made assumptions. "You think I'm just like Ren, don't you? That's what you're thinking, right? That, because I left you like I did, I must be like Ren."
She wasn't sure whether or not she was thankful that vampires couldn't cry.

"I don't know, Akito. Don't ask me complicated questions." Devon repeated. "And I don't see why you're mad at me, I'm not the one who kissed somebody else then left divorce papers. I didn't even know where you were, Akito. I had no idea what to tell Mary." Devon said to Akito, a bit of harshness in his tone.

Akito wrapped her arms around herself, in one of her comfort positions. She felt so defeated. Well, she sure hoped Kaiser was happy. Note the sarasm.
B*****d.
She stared downward once again.
"I know I shouldn't be mad," she muttered. Her teeth were clenched a little. She was still a bit angry. "I have no right to be angry with you. But... I wanted to explain before I left! But I was worried if I took too long writing that note on the back of the papers, Kaiser might get suspicious! And... and... he kissed me. I didn't kiss him back."

Devon sighed. "Let me think, Akito. I don't know what to think or feel right now." He told her. "I don't know weither or not I believe you." He said to her.

((Mleh. I have a teensy idea. XD He turns and starts to walk away and she stops him and kisses him. =thinks of something similar betwee Akito and Shigure in book 17=))

Akito wasn't thinking straight. She did the thing that seemed most natural.. though it certainly was not reasonable or practical at all. She followed him a couple steps, then grabbed onto his shoulder almost roughly, forcing him to turn to face her again. She kissed his lips without thinking, though part of her already knew she'd probably regret this later. But she wrapped her arms around his neck anyway, running her fingers through his hair.

Devon was at first started and tried to pull away from the girl. But he stopped and akwardly placed his hands on her waist and attempted to kiss her back. After a while her relaxed and was able to kiss her back.

Akito continued to kiss him for what felt like forever. Finally, she ended the kiss and leaned her head againt his chest.
"I love you," she whispered, continuing to comb her fingers through his hair, loving the feel of it. "I love you so much. You have no idea..."

Devon didn't know what to do. He wasn't sure if he trusted her or not still, but it was still nice to have her here.

Akito hid her face in his chest, taking in his scent. She really loved everything about him. She moved her arms to be wrapped around his torso insted of his neck, running her finger tips up and down his spine.
"Don't be sorry," she mumbled quietly.

"I can't blame you for not believing me," Akito said quietly. She was elated that he believed her.
"Does this mean you forgive me?" She asked hopefully. Then her mind wandered to Kairi.
"That woman..." She felt bad that she was referring to the person this way, but she didn't know her name. "...What kind of relationship do you have with her...?" She asked. Were they friends? Was the woman his... girlfriend...?
