Aidan and Nadia were sitting outside. Nadia sat on her knees behind Aidan, seeing if she could do her hair. Her mother had taught her how to braid, but it was difficult to do this when they both had curly hair.
She looked up from Aidan's hair when she heard the roar of a nearing pick-up truck. And she stiffened. That sounded like her father's engine. But it couldn't be, could it?
But then she saw a dark blue, mud-spattered pick-up pull up at the curb, right in front of the twins and Kaito, their father, stepped out.
Nadia let out a very quiet scream, though it sounded more like a gasp than anything.
He walked over to them and took each of them by the wrist, very tightly. "You two are coming with me," he growled.
Shoot. He was drunk.
((>.< I dunno if that's good, but Maliki can see what's going on from the window. lol))

((He's going to be coming back from something random. XD))
Maliki had just finished at school. It had been a hectic day and he was strained enough. Seeing Nadia and Aidan with that man made his temper shorten even more. Without completely thinking he ran over to them just managing to keep his slight temper down. "What's going on?" He asked a slight edge to his voice.
Aidan had been surprised to see her father. She gulped when he grabbed her and Nadia by the wrist. At the moment she seemed unable to make any noise of any sort. so when Maliki saw she felt a slight relief. Maybe he could help.

"These're my kids. It's none o' yer business," Kaito replied.
Nadia was meekly trying to pull away. She probably would have pulled harder, but she was scared out of her wits. She looked helplessly at Maliki.

"Then why do they look like they're scared out of their wits?" Maliki said the edge becoming a slight growl to his tone. Since the two had told him about their father finding this out made him more aggravated. To think this man had the guts to actually take the girls back with him. "And I'm making it my business." He added swiftly still looking at the man. Maliki wasn't tall but he wasn't short. But he was still shorter then Kaito and that made him almost wish he could shift into a wolf.

"He** if I know!" Kaito replied angrily, going red in the face a bit. "But they're coming back with me," he snarled. "Keep outta my way now, boy!"
Nadia was still pulling, trying to get her skinny wrist out of her father's big fist.

Aidan now pulled but it didn't seem to help at all whatever she tried.
Maliki made sure to take a step back. He could almost feel that he was going to shift. Things weren't going well and his mood was already sour. Not being able to reply he just glowered. Then in an explosion he was werewolf. Maliki was glad that he had stepped back. If he had been much closer he would have hit one of the girls.
Aidan's eyes widened and her knees seemed to give. A werewolf? What was this? They weren't supposed to be real.
Maliki didn't take long to think. He lowered his head and growled a low threatening growl at Kaito. There wasn't much else he could do in wolf form. Since he couldn't exactly talk. But he was pretty sure the man would get the message.

Kaito, out of shock, let go of the twins' hands. Nadia, out of fright, took her sister's hand firmly in hers and pulled her toward the runaway shelter's door. Then she waited, by the door, not planning on going in, to see what happened.

Good... He let go of them. But I think I've scared them. Great job Maliki. Just great. He thought irritably to himself. Maliki didn't plan to do much more then scare Kaito. But plans tended to be broken. Although he was strongly wishing his could stay the same. He flicked his tail as he took a position between the runaway shelter and Kaito. Either his message would be clear or he would have to push it a little further... Hopefully just a little though.
Aidan hadn't thought much but she allowed her sister to drag her along. She watched from the door tense and a bit frightened.

Kaito was shaking in fright, and before long had made the decision to run to his pick up and hastily start the engine.
Nadia's relief was so overwhelming she nearly fell to her knees. Her legs felt wobbly, and she isntead leaned against the wall of the building, sighing audibly.

Maliki sighed with relief. But the relief was soon gone as he realized he had no clothes. Along with that he couldn't exactly run into the shelter as a wolf. Perhaps the two weren't to scared to get the message that he needed clothes? For a moment he looked around until he found his shoes that had some how survived. He dropped them and some pieces of his shirt a few feet away from the two. It would have really helped if he could speak in this form. He hated the fact that he couldn't speak, barking doesn't count, in this form.
Aidan noticed. She was extremely overjoyed that her father had left but now it looked like Maliki might need something. Taking a deep breath she gained a bit of her composure. "Er... I'll go get some of your clothes from your room then." She said taking off down the hall but making sure not to alarm anyone as she went. Not that it mattered. There weren't as many children here as there used to be.

Nadia had warily approached Maliki. She trusted her sister would be able to get the clothes herself. "Thanks," she said quietly to him, holding her arm half-way out, as if considering whether or not to run her fingers through his fur.

Maliki nodded and put his head down a slight whine escaping. He hadn't meant to transform. Now it did seem that Nadia was afraid. It bothered him that she was scared. Why so much he didn't know. Why? That was all he could ask himself.
((When should he imprint? XD Technically it's supposed to be when you first see them but this site isn't technical. XDDD))

((Maybe he hasn't /exactly/ looked into her eyes yet. So he could really look into her eyes this time, and then imprint.))
Nadia sighed, not as scared now. You'd have to admit, a wolf that was almost twice as tall as you could be scary. She set her hand on his side. "Anyway, thanks... I don't think he'll be come around anymore." Her voice still quivered a bit. Hey, she was eight.

Maliki glanced at her then look at her more so into her eyes now. It was a strange thing to imprint. Like nothing else in the world mattered but the one you imprinted on. There was nothing and no one else. This was it. She would be all he needed. He blinked surprise flickering across his eyes.
Aidan came out with pants and t-shirt for Maliki. She was slightly surprised to Nadia close to him but she decided to get closer too. If Nadia could do it Aidan felt she could. It's not like Maliki had done anything to them anyway. She walked over slightly wary and set the clothes down beside him.

Nadia was surprised by the intensity of Maliki's stare, and she blinked repeatedly, but didn't look away. "What..." she said very quietly, but didn't continue.

Maliki broke his gaze at Nadia and turned to take his clothes. Purposefully leaving his shoes. Really he didn't like shoes but they seemed to be the only things that survived when he transformed. He took them off into a small patch of wood. At the moment he was just glad there was a patch of forest. But his thoughts were on Nadia. He had apparently imprinted on her. But she was eight... Well he figured it could be worse.
Aidan glanced at her sister before turning fully to look at her. "Something wrong?" She asked.

Nadia shook her head. "Dunno. Kinda went spacey for a sec..." she said quietly.

"Okay..." Aidan said looking down.
Maliki came back with his head down. He stopped when he reached the girls. "Er... Sorry about that. Not much I can do when I get angry like that. But I'm getting better I suppose." He said explaining a bit. For now he would allow any questions they shot at him.

"So... so... why do you turn into a wolf? Are you a werewolf?" Nadia asked, immediately curious.

Maliki nodded slightly sheepish. "Yeah..." He muttered. "But the full moon isn't really something that matters with me. It's just controlling my anger. Which normally isn't too hard." He said once again trying to explain a bit.
"But I thought were-wolves didn't exist? Does this mean that there are other creatures like vampires?" Aidan asked.
"Well... Yeah." Maliki said unable to think of anything else to say.
((I thought it would be funny if he was Crystal's cousin. XD Like Lila's brother. Heh heh...))
