She didn't care what everyone had told her, she wasn't killing anyone, they had said. She wasn't a curse...
But she didn't believe it. And, if you looked in her eyes, sometimes you could tell she didn't believe.
So Shade stood on the steps of a runaway shelter, everything she needed in her backback. She carefully opened the door...

Jaylinn noticed the door openning and walked over to it. She saw a girl enter.
"Hello," She said, quiet and friendly. Not wanting to scare the girl.

Shade nodded and walkedfurther in.
It looked like a lot of Kids lived here, but right now, it looked like most of them were out.
There was a small girl in the dorner, reading a book. She was appeared to be eleven...The made Shade tear-up, but she wipped the tears away.

Jaylinn saw Shade tear up. This girl seemed like a good kid.
"Honey, why don't you tell me your name?" She asked. "Mine is Jaylinn."

She paused, Shade wasn't a very common name. If anyone went looking for her, they'd find her instantly.
"Hoshi." She said, going by her middle name. "My name is Hoshi." There, that was more common...

"All right, Hoshi," Jaylinn said with a smile. "Why don't I take you to a room where you can sleep and then I'll bring you some soup? We have mexican soup and chicken 'n' rice soup."

Shade nodded, a little bit dumbfound. "O-okay..." She said. She was surprised how easily Jaylinn had accepted.

Jaylinn smiled at 'Hoshi' and led her to a room. It was empty for the most part, a bunkbed and dresser, along with a lamp and bookshelf that was half-full. There was a younger girl sleeping on the bottom bunk.

Shade quickly placed her stuff on the top-bunk, trying not to wake the girl, then she looked around the room.

"All right Hoshi, I'll be back in a moment," Jaylinn said sweetly. She walked out of the room and got a bowl, filling it with chicken 'n' rice soup. She brought it back to Shade/Hoshi. I tiny ice cube floated in it to cool it down just a little.

Tadao waited at a little mom and pop type restaraunt. He'd told Shade where to go the other day. He hadn't even thought of picking her up. He had forgotten that. He hoped she could get a ride. He'd call in a few minutes to see if she'd need one. He wondered if she'd forgotten. He had almost forgotten the date altogether, and it was almost fifteen minutes past when they were supposed to meet. He called Hatori with his cell.
"Hello?" Hatori picked up the phone.
"Is Shade there, Nii-san?" Tadao asked.
"No, why?" Hatori replied.
"Well, she was supposed to meet me at this restaraunt and she's late." Tadao explained.
"Relax, Tadao, she's probably on her way."
"Okay, Nii-san. Bye." He hung up and tried calling Shade's cell. No answer. He didn't know her home phone number. Where was she?
He called Hatori again.

"Hello?" Hatori picked up the phone again, there was a soft scratching noise in the background like a pencil over a sheet of paper. He was working at the same time.

"Uh, I think there's something wrong, Haa-san. Shade always answers her cell, and she's not picking up. I don't have her home phone number either..." Tadao said, worried.

There was a soft sigh, Hatori thought Tadao was worrying too much, he told his younger brother Shade's number.
"If she's not picking up there, I guess you could try Kyo's house, the two of them are friends." He said.
---The Shelter---
Shade bit her lip as her cell phone vibrated on the wooden desk in her room. She watched it shake, then grabbed it, tore out the battery so no one could call her and stuffed the phone and the battery in her pillow case.
((The Shade part was a bit late, sorry.))
