Eternal Sadness

The small girl sat on the couch, sniffling sadly every now and then. Her eyes were red and puffy, as usual. Her thin frame was draped in a blanket, and as she watched the News, tears fell down her small, thin face. She cried for everything, unable to feel happy while witnesing, seeing, or hearing something bad. The doctors said she was mentally unstable, prone to have a mental breakdown at any moment, but her mother said she would be fine. She did have an incredibly patient and loving boyfriend after all.

Her mother was calling the boy now. "Yes? Its Mrs. Queen. Mackenzie is watching the news again, and I have to go to work, so I was wondering if you could keep her company?" she said, her voice low so her daughter wouldn't hear. "Yes, I know you love her and everything, but I feel bad asking you to come over all the time, even if you like coming." she explained, and after another moment of small talk, she hung up and left for work.

((So whoever you pick can just walk in. he can have a house key. XD))

After Mackenzie's mother had hung up, Septimus had started down to their apartment. It was rather dreary day, unfortunately. Before he had, had his hands in his pockets, now that he was at the apartment complex he opened the door to the room, using the key. He walked in then went over to the couch setting down on the floor beside her.

"You want to turn this off now?" He asked looking back over at her now.

Mackenzie saw him and immediatley leaped up from her seemingly permenant spot on the couch. Wiping her tears away quickly, she gave him a huge hug and pulled him to the couch, turning on something more harmless. Spongebob. She sat as close to him as she could, shivering without the protection of the blanket. "You're warm." she commented, shivering.

Septimus smiled slightly and grabbed the blanket she had dropped, putting it on her again. "Yeah. Why're you so cold?" He asked tilting his head slightly, then putting his arms around her.

((Bleh again... I have to go though. XP Anyway... Next shall be better.))

Mackenzie helped him, pulling it over herself and throwing the rest over Septimus. There was plenty left over, especially since the already-tiny girl had curled into a ball. "I'm always cold, I guess." she replied thoughtfully. She felt goosebumps erupting on her skin, wishing the sun would cmoe out.

Septimus looked back down at her. "That's too bad." He stated. The boy rubbed her arm slightly with a glance at the TV screen. "Any plans for today?" He asked looking back at her.

Mackenzie though carefully for a long moment. "Well . . . no." she said after a silence. "I was kind of planning on doing nothing all day, but this is nice." she added as an afterthought. "With school starting and all, I have to take every chance of laziness I can get." she smiled.

Septimus returned the smile. "I know what you mean. School keeps you busy." He replied.

Her eyes wandered blankly, not looking at anything. She seemed to be lost in thought for a moment, but then her expressio changed and she was back to reality. She shivered again, and wondered why her mother kept the house colder than a freezer, even in the Fall.

"Somethin' wrong?" Septimus asked. "Aside from it being cold." He added with a glance off to the side. "We can turn the heat up."

Mackenzie shook her head as an answer. A delayed replied acme quietly from her a moment later. "Oh, no. Nothing. Just . . . distracted for a second."
